Celebrate Donut Day in the Classroom

Who can honestly say that they don’t love donuts? If you say you don’t… I think you just haven’t tried the right kinds. 😉 June 2nd is National Donut Day in the United States, so I thought doing a round-up of fun donut-themed activities you can use in your classroom on Donut Day and beyond would be fun!

You can do SO many fun things in your classroom to celebrate Donut Day! From stories to crafts to treats, this will be a day your students won’t soon forget!

Donut-Themed Books

A great story to use on Donut Day is The Jelly Donut Difference by Maria Dismondy. This is about a brother and sister learning to get along.

Another great one is part of the “If You Give a…” series – If You Give a Dog a Donut by Laura Numeroff is a fun way to get kids writing.

One of my favorite books is The Case of the Missing Donut by Alison McGhee. It. It is a super-cute story about a boy who is sent to pick up a dozen donuts and what happens along the way.

I have a fun reading response activity for this one that my kiddos have really enjoyed. It is part of a larger series of resources, and you can take a closer look at it here:

Donut Crafts and Games

After some learning happens, get your sprinkle on with some fun crafts and games. These are a few of my favorite choices:

How fun does that look?!

Donut Day Treats

Finally, celebrate at the end of your day with some donut treats! (Pssst… they don’t HAVE actually to be donuts! 😉)

Seasonal Donut Treats

Last but not least… check out these fun donut treats for other times of the year—perfect for a donut-themed classroom!

I hope that you’ve had some fun with this post and are inspired to celebrate Donut Day in your classroom!
